George Williams grew up in the old country (no one knows which one). He lived a life of near slavery, being forced to test potatoes to see which were invested with bugs. He escaped when he was 18 and stowed away on a ship carrying immigrants. He blended into American life easily and became one of America's leading College Professors at a college in Idaho that just started (they were desperate). Because of his potato knowledge, he became head of the science division, but always held a love for English. He died in 1994 at the age of 84. At his funeral they had a 21 potato salute, second of its kind.
